Caring for your treated timber table

Handmade from solid, treated outdoor timber, your table is built to live outside and mellow beautifully over time. Because real wood breathes with the weather, you may see fine surface cracks (known as “checking”) and a little seasonal movement — this is completely natural and nothing to worry about, and won’t affect its strength. A little care keeps it looking its best:

Oil it at least twice a year — use a clear exterior wood oil (garden furniture, teak or decking oil), applied in two thin coats along the grain on a dry, mild day. The more regularly you oil it, the better it holds up.
Expect natural character. Fine checks and slight warping come and go with the seasons and settle as the wood acclimatises.
Cover it when not in use with a breathable cover — especially over winter — rather than sealing it in plastic.
Wipe up spills and standing water promptly, and use mats under very hot pans.
