The brief
The Young People's Forest at Mead is 250,000 trees planted on an old opencast coal site near Heanor, shaped by the young people who use it. The Trust wanted three benches that were landmarks in their own right: an infinity loop and two hashtag shapes, in oak, that would last.
What we made
We worked up a full design and specification with the Trust for sign-off, then built the steel bases in our own workshop before galvanising and powder-coating them. The oak was planed and machined here and finished in a durable oil. Installation took a single day, which on a public site matters.
What they said
“I met the team yesterday to show them the benches and they were extremely happy. They were very impressed with the quality and asked me to pass on their thanks to you. They also loved that it was a local company that made it. It was the first time I saw it in person too and I also think it's amazing. You perfectly made the design a reality.”
