Reclaimed Wood Desk β 40mm Mill Timber & Steel
A writing desk with a 40mm top cut from reclaimed Derbyshire mill timber, on a UK forged steel frame with a lower shelf. The boards were floorboards and beams in mills built 100 to 200 years ago; we salvage them locally, plane them back, joint them and finish them by hand a few miles from where they came from.
The marks in the top are the point. Nail holes, saw scores, filled knots and colour variation are a century of use rather than a printed effect, and no two desks come out the same. A water-based varnish seals the surface without filling in that texture. The frame is 50 x 25mm forged steel with a bent leg profile, raw clear lacquered or powder coated black, and the lower shelf takes books, a printer or files.
This is the top of our desk range β designed and made from scratch by James and Nick in our Derbyshire workshop.
